What is Daca and Who are the dreamers? Simple explanation

Written by Umberto Belluzzo

In these past years, million and millions of foreign immigrants have entered the U.S. Most of which originate from South America. A big number (altough not all of course) of these immigrants have brought their children with them. These children have grown up in the states, they’ve studied in an American school, they have eaten American food, they have grown and have started to work earned money and are now paying taxes. This means they have become American people but however these people are not considered citizens, these people are called “dreamers”.
Now the American Politic have tried to solve this problem years ago. As American Politic I mean Barack Obama that seeing the strong right wing opposition wouldn’t have given him this opportunity, decided to bypass this opposition creating the “D.A.C.A”( Deferred Action on Childhood Arrivals). The“D.A.C.A” is a sort of temporary pardon for all the “irregular” people but only for those who came in the states before 2007. This idea gave the possibility to become an American citizen to about 1 million people and to be accepted by the American Congress later on.
This year our president Mr. Trump who is trying to erase and throw away every single thing Obama has done, has released a decrete which states the demolition of “D.A.C.A” which would expel over one million people from the U.S… Great!
Obviously people started claiming this fact with many protests for example from big factories and a lot of “American” stars. For example, David Dobrik, a notorious web star who emigrated from Slovakia with his parents at a young age in Chicago, stated on tweeter that he paid $400.000 in taxes just for a non-return ticket to Slovakia.
Now, also republicans (Trump’s party) criticised the president’s decision, in fact John McCain stated:” “[It’s not] conscionable to tell young people who once came here as children that they must and are obligated to go back to a country that they don’t even know. There are 900 of these Dreamers that are serving in uniforms in the United States military. Are we going to go to a young man or woman serving in Afghanistan or Iraq today, and say, ‘Hey by the way, you’re a Dreamer, get back to fill-in-the-blank?’”
Let’s think about this for a minute, what would happen if you where to expel every “dreamer” in the U.S, i mean what would these people do? They do not know any other languages, they don’t know the culture, and they don’t know anything! Where would you send them? Germany? China? NORTH KOREA?!
I personally think you can see the difference between a real politician and an idiot. McCain in fact although he is in the party which wants restrictions and control on the borders showed he has a sense of responsibility in order to achieve the benefit of the nation and people.
There will be consequences Mr President… not only for people but also for the American Economy. In Fact a study earlier this year by the Center for American Progress estimated that the loss of all DACA workers would reduce U.S. gross domestic product by $433 billion over the next 10 years. The explanation is simple: 91% of the dreamers are employed. Cancelling the program would mean that roughly 30,000 people a month would lose their work permits as their DACA status expires, which means California, for example, with an estimated 188,000 DACA workers, would suffer a GDP loss of $11.3 billion a year, according to the research.
Your choice Mr President… America First!
Let me know in the comments what you think.
